How to reach Andaman
Direct flights are available from major Indian cities to Port Blair (capital city of Andaman).
We took a flight from Delhi to Kolkata and then a connecting flight from Kolkata to Port Blair.

Day 1 : Reach Port Blair from Delhi
Day 2 : Reach Havelock Island and Explore it
Day 3 : Scuba Diving and Explore Havelock Island
Day 4 : Early morning water activities in Havelock Island and reach Neil Island
Day 5: Explore Neil Island and in the evening reach Port Blair
Day 6 : Explore Port Blair
Day 7 : Back to Delhi
Best Time to go to Andaman
The season of Andaman is from October to May. January to April is considered as the best time to visit Andaman due to pleasant weather.
We visited Andaman in February 2021. The weather was pleasant and less humid. All water activities were open for tourists.
Budget for a 7 days 6 Nights Trip to Andaman
Accommodation
We stayed for 3 Nights in Harriet View B&B in Port Blair, 2 nights in Blue Bird Resort in Havelock Island & 1 night in Laxmi Residency Resort in Neil Island.
Harriet View B&B in Port Blair and Blue Bird Resort in Havelock Island range in between INR 4000–6000 per day and Laxmi Residency Resort range in between INR 2000 – 3000 per day depending on the season.
So, for a 7 days 6 nights trip to Andaman, expect to spend around INR 25000 (for two people) on accommodation if you choose your stays in the similar range.
If you are on budget, you can book your stays online in the range of INR 2000 – INR 3000 per day. For good price of a property, prebook your stays at least 2 months in advance.
Transport
You can hire a taxi or rent a bike/scooty for roaming around in Andaman. We hired a scooty at every destination in Andaman. Renting a scooty cost around INR 500 (depends on the season as well) per day plus the fuel cost.
Also, ferry is the only way to travel to and fro Port Blair, Havelock Island and Neil Island. Government ferry cost around INR 650 per person and private ferry INR 1200 – 1500 per person. In total 3 ferry rides are required if you are visiting Havelock and Neil Island.
So, for 7 days expect to spend around INR 6500 – 8000 (for two people) for private ferry and INR 4000 for Government ferry.
Food
If you are on a budget, you can easily get a vegetarian Thali in INR 150 – 250 per person in Andaman. And if you are a foodie and love exploring cafes/ restaurants, expect to spend around INR 1000 per meal for two people.
We had the breakfast included in the package of our hotels.
So, for 7 days, expect to spend around INR 6000 – 9000 (for two people) on food in Andaman.
Activities
There are plenty of water activities in Andaman. We did Jet Skiing in Portblair, SCUBA, Sea Walk, Kayaking and Snorkeling in Havelock Island and Snorkeling in Neil Island. The cost of these activities(per person) are as under:-
Jet Skiing – INR 600
SCUBA Diving – INR 3500 to 6500
Snorkelling in Havelock Island – INR 1000 (plus underwater camera charges)
Snorkelling in Neil Island – INR 1500
SEA Walk in Havelock Island – INR 3500
Kayaking in Havelock Island – INR 4000
Water park in Portblair – INR 600
So, expect to spend around INR 15K to 20K (per person) if you choose to do the activities that we did. You can also skip any of these or add more depending on your budget.
Booking a ferry in Andaman
Sea ferry is the only way to travel in between islands in Andaman. There are two kind of ferries, Government Ferry and Private Ferry. Private ferries are booked online.
For booking Government ferry, you have to fill a form and submit it in DC office, a day prior to your visit. The forms and details are available with the accommodations.
We used Government ferries to travel from Port Blair to Havelock Island, Havelock Island to Neil Island and from Neil Island to Port Blair.

Day by Day breakdown for a trip to Andaman
Day 1 : Reach Portblair
- We took a late night flight from Delhi, and reached Port Blair early in the morning.
- Check in your hotel in Port Blair. We stayed in Harriet View BnB. It is a BnB with homely environment and luxury no less than a five-star hotel. Needless to say we loved this stay a bit too much for its amazing food, friendly host and comfortable rooms.You can book the rooms online or call Mr. Sameer @ +91-9933253858
- Rent a scooty/ bike and set out to explore Mount Harriet National Park, Corbyn’s Cove Beach, Marina Park.You can rent it from Rehman Bhai @ +91-9933263099
- You can have dinner at rooftop restaurant Amaya Restro of Sea Shell Hotel. They have an open kitchen and really nice rooftop setup. Their food taste delicious.
- We had breakfast and lunch at our hotel only, as we really liked their food.
Note : – There are many things to explore in Portblair but we saved it for the last leg of the journey. Alternatively, you can explore Port Blair first, before moving to the islands.
Day 2 : Early Morning Ferry to Havelock Island
- Reach Havelock Island and Check in your hotel. We stayed in Blue Bird Resort. It is in the main market of Havelock and a few other destinations in Havelock. Made up of traditional bamboo hut cottages, it is an eco friendly, comfortable stay. The staff here is always ready to help. You can book the rooms online or call Mr. Nir @ +91-9474255735
- Rent an Activa and set out to explore Havelock Island.
- Visit Radha Nagar Beach. Do try the beach side stalls for some amazing snacks.
- Go for Kayaking in the evening. We did Kayaking with Aqua Knight Kayaking. You can contact Baisakhi @ +91-9531878431
- Dinner at Anju Coco Restaurant (it is just next to the Blue Bird Resort)
Day 3 : The SCUBA Day
- Sunrise at Kala Pather Beach and ride upto Kala Pather Basti. The shoreline of the beach is long. Do walk and you will find yourself secluded in the pristine beauty.
- SCUBA Diving. Andaman is the best place in India to do SCUBA Diving. And it is a must try experience. We did it with Island Divers. You can Mr. Sujoy @ +91-9531863668 to book your SCUBA with them.
- Sunset at Radha Nagar Beach. You can also visit Barefoot Scuba Resort at Radhanagar Beach and have dinner at their restaurant.
Day 4 Morning
- Trek upto Elephant Beach. We reached the starting point of the trek and hired a guide from there. The guide charges around INR 1000 and can be booked from the starting point of the trek.
- We did Snorkeling and Sea Walk at Elephant beach.There are other water activities like speed boat, Jet Skiing, Banana ride etc as well.
Note :- If you do not want to trek, you can also reach Elephant beach via boat from Havelock Jetty. And if you are going by boat, Snorkeling is complementary as they say. But it is not the best experience as they won’t take you upto the real beauty. Do buy a ticket for Snorkeling for the best experience.
Day 4 Evening
- Take a Ferry from Havelock to Neil Island.
- Check in your hotel. We stayed in Laxmi Continental Resort.It is a nice and comfortable stay. They also provide free taxi service from Neil Jetty upto the resort. Just let them know in advance. You can book your stay with them online or contact them @ +91 – 9933292967
- Watch the Sunset at Laxmanpur I Beach and try the crisp beach side snacks.
- Dinner at reafers/ Bohemian café.
Day 5 Morning : Exploring Neil Island
- Sunrise at Sitapur Beach
- Do Snorkeling in Neil at Bharatpur Beach. We did it with Scuba Yogi. You can reach out to them @+91-9474250510
- Visit Natural bridges at Laxmanpur II beach.
- Lunch at Bharatpur beach at the food stalls.
- Catch afternoon Ferry to port Blair
Day 5 Evening : Reaching Port Blair
- Reach port Blairin the evening.
- Visit the Light &sound show atCellular Jail (You have to make the prior bookings online for this, contact your place of stay for further information)
- Dinner at Lalaji Bay Restaurant.
Day 6 : Explore Portblair
- Visit Ross island. For this catch a ferry from Water Sports Complex in Portblair.
- Sunset at Chidiya Tapu (around 17 kms from Port Blair). We went there on our scooty.
- Dinner at Icy Spicy in Portblair.
Day 7 : Sunrise in Portblair and Journey back home
- Sunrise at Wandoor beach (around 20 kms from portblair). We went there on our rented scooty.
- End the trip with a fun activity at water park at Water Sports Complex in Port Blair.
- Flight back home.
